Tubal Ligation

How It Works

Tubal ligation is a permanent type of birth control known as “getting your tubes tied” through surgery.

What Happens

Every month, a woman’s body releases an egg. That egg waits in her fallopian tube to be fertilized by a male sperm. When a woman has her “tubes tied” it stops an egg from entering the fallopian tube. This means fertilization by a sperm and pregnancy is no longer possible.
